Japan-India Summit Meeting

On September 21, commencing at 6.14p.m. (local time, on September 22, 7.14a.m.) for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting the United States to attend the Japan-Australia-India-U.S. Summit Meeting, held a Japan-India Summit Meeting with H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Prime Minister Kishida mentioned that he chose India as the destination for his first bilateral visit as Prime Minister and referring to the various achievements with Prime Minister Modi, he looks forward to further cooperation between Japan and India on global governance. In response, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the tremendous development of Japan-India relations under the leadership of Prime Minister Kishida, and stated that Japan and India are natural partners and that he would like to continue to promote cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
- The two leaders confirmed that both countries will continue to work together on concrete initiatives in a wide range of fields, taking into consideration Prime Minister Modi's visit to Japan as part of the annual mutual visit between the two countries.
