Japan-India Relations

From March 4 to 6, Mr. OUE Sadamasa, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, visited India. The overview of the visit is as follows:

  1. Special Advisor OUE delivered a speech in the 11th Raisina Dialogue, co-hosted by the Indian think tank ORF (Observer Research Foundation) and the Ministry of External Affairs of India. In his speech, Special Advisor OUE stated that the Japanese government will strategically advance its efforts for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” and will work towards “making the Indo-Pacific strong and prosperous.” He also emphasized the necessity of further promoting Japan-India defense cooperation and defense equipment and technology cooperation.
  2. Special Advisor OUE held discussions with Indian Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Vikram Misri and representatives of think tanks to strengthen Japan-India relations, especially in the area of security. He also exchanged views with representatives of Japanese companies operating in India.
