1. Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held a summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, on November 30, from 2:37 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Paris, France, where Prime Minister Abe is currently visiting to attend the COP21 Summit Meeting.

2. The two leaders had a discussion focusing on the field of climate change and Prime Minister Abe explained to Prime Minister Modi that Japan will provide, in 2020, 1.3 trillion yen of public and private climate finance to developing countries, and he thought that this shows a path to achievement of developing countries’ commitment to support 100 billion yen by 2020. Prime Minister Abe stated that the position of India, which is a main emitter, is a key for the success of COP21 and he strongly expected Prime Minister Modi’s strong leadership. The two leaders confirmed cooperation between Japan and India as the Special Strategic Partners, in the field of climate change for the success of COP21.

3. The two leaders exchange their views on the outcome of Prime Minister Abe’s coming visit to India as well as security cooperation and projects of economy and economic cooperation. They confirmed that Prime Minister Abe will visit India from December 11 to 13 if circumstances permit.
