State Minister Fujii is shaking hands with Ambassador Ong and Mr. NAKATANI Gen, Minister of Defense of Japan

On September 16, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the “Singapore National Day Reception” hosted by H.E. Mr. ONG Eng Chuan , Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister Fujii delivered remarks following those of Ambassador Ong and Mr. NAKATANI Gen, Minister of Defense of Japan.
  2. In his remarks, State Minister Fujii expressed his congratulations on the 60th National Day of Singapore. He stated that Japan and Singapore, which will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, have close relationships in a wide range of fields. He also noted that, in August, H.E. Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Senior Minister of the Republic of Singapore , visited Japan to participate in the Singapore National Day event at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. At that time, the Conferment Ceremony of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun was held for Senior Minister Lee, and State Minister Fujii once again expressed his congratulations on the conferment.
  3. State Minister Fujii then stated that Japan is promoting efforts toward a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, and that Japan hopes to strengthen cooperation with Singapore in the fields of security and economy for regional peace and prosperity. He also stated that, toward next year’s 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Japan would like to further develop bilateral relations across a wide range of fields.
