State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU's Attendance at the “Singapore National Day Reception”

On September 2, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the “Singapore National Day Reception” hosted by H.E. Mr. ONG Eng Chuan, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Japan.
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU delivered her remarks following the remarks by Ambassador Ong.
- In her remarks, State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed her congratulations on the 61st National Day of the Republic of Singapore and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-Singapore diplomatic relations. She stated that Singapore is a very dependable regional partner that has, for many years, jointly upheld and advanced a free and open international order based on the rule of law and free trade, together with Japan. State Minister KUNIMITSU also stated that a bilateral relationship between the two countries were upgraded to a “Strategic Partnership” at Japan-Singapore Summit Meeting in March this year, and that she is encouraged by the fact that concrete initiatives are moving forward in fields such as digitalization and energy cooperation.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed her hope for the further development of Japan–Singapore relations next year when Singapore assumes the important role of ASEAN Chairmanship.
