Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU by H.E. Mr. ONG Eng Chuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Japan

On May 8, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. ONG Eng Chuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Singapore to Japan.
- At the outset, Ambassador Ong presented a commemorative stamp issued by Singapore Post to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore. In response, State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed gratitude for the presentation of the commemorative stamp, and expressed her hope that exchanges and mutual understanding between the peoples of both countries would be further promoted this year.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU also noted that relations between Japan and Singapore were elevated to the “Strategic Partnership” during Prime Minister Wong’s visit to Japan in March of this year, marking the beginning of a new era. She added that Japan intends to move forward with concrete cooperation, focusing on the priority cooperation areas identified by the Prime Ministers.
- The two sides exchanged views on regional and international situations, including those in the Indo-Pacific. They also confirmed their intention to further strengthen cooperation across a wide range of fields, including cooperation in the international arena.
