On April 2, Ms. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the commemorative concert for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Singapore-Japan diplomatic relations (SJ60) hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU delivered remarks following those of Ambassador Ong.
  2. In her remarks, State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that Japan and Singapore have built strong relations as partners who share values and principles. She also mentioned that it has shown the strong determination of both countries for further enhancement of bilateral relations toward the future that the two countries announced the upgrading of bilateral relations to a "Strategic Partnership" at the Japan-Singapore Summit Meeting last month.
  3. State Minister KUNIMITSU then introduced the theme of this year’s 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore as “Co-imagine, Co-create and Co-evolve”, and expressed her hope that friends from both countries, including through this concert, will cooperate together to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
