Japan-Singapore Foreign Ministers’ Meeting
On June 28, commencing at 3:05 p.m. and for about 30 minutes, Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan of the Republic of Singapore, who was in Japan to attend the G20 Osaka Summit, had a meeting. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Minister Kono stated “I am pleased to see the ongoing cooperation through the Japan-Singapore Partnership Program for the 21st Century (JSPP21),” “we would like to continue our cooperation in various fields including the high-level meeting on the ASEAN Smart City Network to be held in Japan this year,” “I welcome the collaboration between Japan and Singapore in promoting LNG bunkering sites.”

2. Minister Kono said about the G20 Osaka Summit: “we appreciate Singapore’s cooperation in the G20 process,” and “I expect Minister Balakrishnan’s participation in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting to be held in Nagoya in November this year.”

3. Both Foreign Ministers discussed regional issues such as the South China Sea.
