In the wake of the passenger ferry fire accident that occurred off the coast of the Province of Palawan, the Republic of the Philippines, on September 9, I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their lives and my sincere sympathies to the bereaved families. I wish for the earliest possible search and rescue of those still missing. Japan expresses its strong solidarity with the Filipino people.
