  1. On April 30, from 2:40 p.m. local time (3:40 p.m. Japan time) for approximately 45 minutes, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru visited the 97m-class patrol vessel "Teresa Magbanua," which Japan provided to the Philippine Coast Guard through yen loan project.
  2. Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his appreciation to the officers of the Philippine Coast Guard engaged in maritime safety activities.
  3. In addition, he also gave oversight to technical guidance provided to the Philippine Coast Guard by Japan Coast Guard officers dispatched from the Japan Coast Guard's Mobile Corporation Team.

(Reference1) Provision of 97m-class patrol vessels

The purpose of providing two 97m-class patrol vessels to the Philippine Coast Guard in 2022 is to improve its ability to quickly and appropriately carry out offshore and coastal rescue and maritime law enforcement operations, and thereby to contribute to improve maritime safety in the Republic of the Philippines.

(Reference2) Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team (MCT)

In order to support the improvement of the maritime safety capabilities of overseas coast guard agencies, the Japan Coast Guard Mobile Cooperation Team was established in 2017 as a dedicated department composed of coast guard officers with specialized knowledge and advanced skills and dispatched to various countries as experts to provide technical support.
