On June 20, Ms. IKUINA Akiko, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received His Excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines who visited Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview is as follows.

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina, together with Osaka Vice-Governor Watanabe and Osaka Mayor Yokoyama, welcomed President Marcos and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos at the State Guest House and welcomed them to Japan and the Expo on behalf of the Government of Japan.
  2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina conveyed to President Marcos her appreciation for the early visit to the Expo following exchange with Prime Minister Ishiba at the summit meeting in this April. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina then conveyed a message from Prime Minister Ishiba that although this time he could not receive President Marcos in Osaka by himself, he would like to continue to work together to advance Japan-Philippines relations.
  3. President Marcos thanked Prime Minister Isiba for his message and congratulated him on the successful hosting of the Expo. President Marcos stated that his first visit to Japan was during the 1970 Osaka Expo and that he still clearly remembers those days, including his mother's greeting as the representative of the Philippines. President Marcos said that business and personal exchanges between Japan and the Philippines are becoming closer and closer, and he was proud to feel that the Philippine Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo embodied such bilateral relations. The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
