Japan-Indonesia Relations

On February 26 and 27, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. AKAHORI Takeshi visited the Republic of Indonesia to hold the Japan-Indonesia Cooperation Dialogue and to exchange views with Deputy Minister for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia as well as representatives of Japanese companies operating in Indonesia. The details are as follows:

1. Second Japan-Indonesia Cooperation Dialogue

On February 27, from 3:00pm (local time) for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, the Second Japan-Indonesia Cooperation Dialogue took place in Jakarta. The meeting was attended by Mr. Akahori and Mr. Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
During the dialogue, as comprehensive and strategic partners, the two sides confirmed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in various fields including infrastructure, industries, decarbonization-energy transition, supply chains, and emerging technologies. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments and confirmed that Japan and Indonesia will continue to collaborate.

2. Exchange of views with Mr. Edi Prio Pambudi, Deputy Minister for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs

On February 27(local time), Mr. Akahori exchanged views with Mr. Edi Prio Pambudi, Deputy Minister for Coordination of International Economic Cooperation, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, on decarbonization-energy transition including promotion of the Asia Zero-Emission Community (AZEC), as well as bilateral economic relations, regional and international economic situations. The two sides affirmed to continue to work together closely.

3. Exchange of views with Japanese Business Community in Indonesia

On February 27(local time), Mr. Akahori met with Mr. SATO Kenji, Chairman of the Jakarta Japan Club (JJC), and other JJC board members, and exchanged views on the current international situation as well as challenges faced by Japanese companies and investment environment in Indonesia.
