Prime Minister TAKAICHI Attends the Conferral Ceremony and a Dinner Hosted by Prime Minister Hung

On May 2, commencing at 6:35 p.m. local time (8:35 p.m. Japan time) for approximately 130 minutes, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting Viet Nam, attended the Conferral Ceremony and a dinner hosted by H.E. Mr. Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of Viet Nam, at the New Presidential Palace.
- At the Conferral Ceremony, Prime Minister TAKAICHI presented the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun to former General Secretary Manh and former Prime Minister Dung, who have made significant contributions to Japan-Vietnam relations.
- In his remarks at the dinner, Prime Minister Hung once again welcomed Prime Minister TAKAICHI’s visit to Viet Nam and expressed his intention to further develop Japan-Vietnam relations across a wide range of fields, including politics, economy, security, as well as people-to-people exchanges, under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
- In her remarks, Prime Minister TAKAICHI expressed her respect for Prime Minister Hung’s leadership in strongly promoting Japan-Vietnam relations as a leader with deep knowledge of Japan. She also noted that historical ties,such as the Bugaku dance introduced by the 8th-century Vietnamese Buddhist monk But Triet at the eye-opening ceremony of the Great Buddha of Todai-ji Temple in Nara,have formed the foundation of today’s close bilateral relations.
- At the dinner, in addition to Vietnamese cuisine, dishes featuring Japanese scallops and wagyu beef were also served. Furthermore, Prime Minister TAKAICHI also called on representatives of major Vietnamese retail companies in attendance to expand their handling of Japanese agricultural, forestry and fishery products and food.
