On September 10, commencing at 4:55 p.m. for 30 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi expressed his congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Viet Nam, and stated that the Viet Nam National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Long, served as a valuable opportunity to promote Viet Nam in Japan and the world.
  2. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Long expressed his appreciation for the congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the foundation of Viet Nam, and stated that bilateral relations will continue to deepen, including in new and strategic areas such as semiconductors and digital transformation.
  3. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi raised the issue of abductions of Japanese citizens by North Korea, and asked for understanding and cooperation for its immediate resolution.
