On April 28, 2025, from 3:10 p.m. local time (JST 5:10 p.m.) for approximately 1 hour, Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan participated in a seminar alongside Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam, where Japanese and Vietnamese companies convened to discuss collaboration in high-tech, Green Transformation (GX), and semiconductor industries. The key points of the forum are as follows.

  1. The forum commenced with an opening remark by Minister of Finance Nguyen Thi Hong, followed by presentations by both Japanese and Vietnamese companies, focusing on enhancement of high-value-added industries.
  2. Prime Minister Ishiba stated that given the uncertainty of the current global economy, Japan and Vietnam, which are closely connected through supply chains, can view this situation as an opportunity to cooperate on industrial modernization and stated that Vietnam’s industrial sophistication and strengthening its resilience to external shocks would benefit both countries. He emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration in promoting industrial advancement, including human resource development and decarbonization. He also introduced ongoing initiatives between Japan and Vietnam and expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation including public-private partnerships and to build a stronger relationship that brings mutual benefit to both nations.
  3. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh gave the opening remarks, followed by an introduction of projects between Japanese and Vietnamese companies and relevant organizations.
