On December 24, commencing at 4:50 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Khuong, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, who is visiting Japan for the negotiation of a social security agreement. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister Kunimitsu expressed sympathy for the successive typhoons and heavy rain damage in Viet Nam. She also stated her desire to cooperate toward the early conclusion of a social security agreement as a foundation to facilitate active people-to-people and economic exchanges between two countries.
  2. In response, Deputy Minister H.E. Mr. Khuong expressed gratitude, welcomed the active people-to-people exchanges between two countries, and stated his intention to continue to make every effort to negotiate on a social security agreement.
  3. Both sides confirmed their commitment to continue working together to deepen cooperation between the two countries under the Japan-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
