Japan-Thailand Relations

In celebration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Thailand in 2027, both governments held a public contest to design a commemorative logo. The winning logo has now been selected, and we are pleased to announce it as follows.

1. We received approximately 800 entries in response to the public call for the logo. After the final review, which included a public vote, this design was selected. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support involved.
2. Statement by the Designer on the Work
   Designer: Thaiprasong Phichetphon (Thai national)
   Statement: Inspired by the concept of “Enduring Friendship” the logo blends cultural elements of Thailand and Japan through contemporary line art, seamlessly forming an infinity symbol that represents a strong and enduring bond, as well as continued cooperation. Mount Fuji, the rising sun, and ocean waves symbolize Japan, while traditional Thai architecture reflects Thailand’s unique cultural identity. The stars represent hope and shared aspirations for the future. Blue signifies unity, trust, and stability, while gold represents prosperity, mutual growth, and the lasting friendship between Thailand and Japan.
3. The logo is expected to be used for anniversary-related commemorative projects and events in both countries. Details on the procedures for official recognition of “Japan–Thailand 140th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations” projects will be announced in due course once finalized.
