Attendance of Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms.IKUINA Akiko, at the Opening Ceremony of the 25th Thai Festival Tokyo


On May 10, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. IKUINA Akiko attended the opening ceremony of the 25th Thai Festival Tokyo together with H.E. Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and delivered a speech on behalf of the Japanese government.
In her address, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ikuina stated that exchanges between the two countries are becoming active again, with the number of mutual visitors exceeding 1 million each. Furthermore, she noted that the Thai Festival, which marks its 25th anniversary this year, has played a significant role in fostering exchange and mutual understanding between people of both countries. She also introduced the popularity of the Thai Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which opened last month, and encouraged many people to visit. Finally, she stated that cultural exchange between Japan and Thailand will further strengthen the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” between the two countries and expressed hope for the further expansion of bilateral relations.
The opening ceremony was attended by many honored guests including Foreign Minister Maris and Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador of Thailand to Japan.
