Attendance of State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU at the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Thailand

On December 4, Ms. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the National Day Reception of the Kingdom of Thailand, hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Tokyo. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, following remarks by H.E. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Japan, State Minister Kunimitsu delivered her address.
- In her address, State Minister Kunimitsu expressed her heartfelt condolences upon the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother. She also mentioned that Japan had provided emergency relief goods through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on December 2 in response to the damages caused by the flood in southern Thailand and expressed her wish for the swift recovery of all those affected by the disaster as two countries are true friends who have supported each other through difficult times.
- Furthermore, State Minister Kunimitsu stated that Thailand is an important partner for Japan in realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), and that under the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," cooperation is being built across a wide range of fields, including in political, economic, and cultural areas. She also expressed her hope for the blossoming of bilateral cooperation, building upon both countries’ strengths.
