On December 5, the Royal Thai Embassy in Japan hosted an online event to celebrate the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand. On this occasion, Parliamentary Vice Minister MIYAKE Shingo delivered a congratulatory video message as follows.

Sawaddee khrap.

His Excellency Singtong Lapisatepun, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Japan, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the Thai national day, the 5th of December.

Thailand and Japan enjoy active exchanges in a wide range of areas, starting from the long and amicable relationship between the imperial and royal families to the fields of politics, economy, culture, sports among others.

Having said that, the coronavirus pandemic affected people-to-people exchanges between our two countries. At the same time, the fight against the pandemic has reminded us of the importance of each other’s presence. Japan supported Thailand including the provision of more than two million doses of vaccines, while Thailand made a special arrangement to accelerate vaccination for the Japanese residents in Thailand. All these demonstrated that our relationship is truly “a friend in need is a friend indeed” and I am convinced that such a relationship is enduring.

Our diplomatic relations marks the 135th anniversary next year. Thailand is the current ASEAN coordinator for Japan and the APEC chair in 2022. Japan’s relations with Thailand will be even more important, not only in the bilateral context but also in the viewpoint of regional cooperation. I am committed to making utmost efforts in further advancing the Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Japan.

I would like to wish for prosperity of our two countries as well as for everyone’s health and happiness.

Khop khun khrap (Thank you).
