On September 30, State Minister for Foreign Affairs MIYAJI Takuma received a courtesy call from Honorable Mrs. Thoummaly VONGPHACHANH, President of the Laos-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group, and her delegation. The summary of the meeting is as follows:

  1. State Minister Miyaji welcomed President Thoummaly and her delegation to Japan on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Laos, and offered his congratulations on the Group’s receipt of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation. He also stated that Japan would like to further strengthen bilateral cooperation under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
  2. In response, President Thoummaly expressed her appreciation for Japan’s assistance to Laos’s economic development, including support for legal system development such as the drafting Laos’s Civil Code, and expressed her wish to continue working together to further promote the friendship between the two countries.
