Visit to the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Japan by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs SHIMADA

On May 11, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in Japan and held an exchange of views with H.E. Mr. Amphay Kindavong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Japan.
- At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA welcomed the elevation of the bilateral relations to the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” last year. He further stated, while referring to the visit of Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko to Laos last November, his intention to work together with Ambassador Amphay to further expand the relationship between Japan and Laos.
- In response, Ambassador Amphay expressed his appreciation for Japan’s support to Laos to date, and stated his willingness to further strengthen bilateral relations through various upcoming exchange programs.
- Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of areas, including economic cooperation and cultural exchange, and concurred on further deepening the bonds between the two countries. .
