Attendance of State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU at the Reception to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic

On November 28, Ms. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended, on behalf of the Government of Japan, the reception to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, hosted by H.E. Mr. Amphay KINDAVONG, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Japan, at the Embassy of the Lao PDR in Tokyo. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, Ambassador Amphay introduced Laos’s path of development to date on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao PDR and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Laos, and expressed his appreciation for Japan’s long-standing cooperation.
- State Minister Kunimitsu, on behalf of the Government of Japan, expressed her congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao PDR. She noted that, on the occasion of the Japan-Laos Summit Meeting in January this year, bilateral relations were elevated to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” and that the visit to Laos by Her Imperial Highness Princess Aiko in November further deepened the bonds between the two countries. She stated that Japan would like to further develop bilateral relations under this Partnership.
- Subsequently, Ms. TSUCHIYA Shinako, Chairperson of the Japan-Laos Parliamentary Friendship Association, stated that the Association would continue to make every effort to further develop the friendly relations between the two countries.
- Following the ceremony, Lao traditional dance and music were performed, and the participants engaged in friendly conversations in a warm and amicable atmosphere.
