Exchange of views between Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA and H.E. Mr. CHUM Sounry, Ambassador Cambodia to Japan

On May 27, commencing at 5:30 p.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs SHIMADA Tomoaki received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. CHUM Sounry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA welcomed Ambassador Sounry on his appointment and expressed his hope to cooperate closely towards the realization of the updated Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
  2. In response, Ambassador Sounry stated that, as Ambassador to Japan, he would promote the” Economic Co-creation Package” and make every effort to further deepen bilateral relations between both countries in political and security cooperation, economy and trade, and the promotion of people-to-people exchange under the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
  3. Both sides exchanged views on regional and international affairs including the border situation between Cambodia and Thailand, combating organized fraud, and promoting democratic development in Cambodia.
