Japan's Efforts for Regional Peace and Stability
![]() Japan has sent its Self-Defense Forces personnel to the Golan Heights as part of the U.N. Peace-Keeping Operation (there) from February,1996 and has chaired the Environmental Working Group of the Multitrack of the Middle East Peace Process since May,1992.

![]() Together with the U.S. and South Korea, Japan plays a significant role in the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO), established in March,1995, to deal with the issue of North Korea's nuclear development.

![]() Japan played a leading role in the international efforts for reconstruction and democratization of Cambodia. More than 700 SelfDefense Forces personnel were engaged in this international efforts from September, 1992 to September, 1993. |
