The U.S.-Japan Conference on Development and Utilization of Natural Resources (UJNR), organized under the Pacific Ocean Observation and Research Initiative in July 1994, has been entrusted with observation and research in the Pacific Ocean. Future marine research will discover more about major ocean currents, the interrelationship of oceans and the atmosphere, and the cyclical transformation of substances.
