On December 23rd, commencing at 15:35 p.m., for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, received a courtesy call from representatives led by Mr. SAWADA Jun, Chairman of the Japan-U.S. Business Council. The overview is as follows.

  1. Chairman Sawada handed over to Prime Minister Ishiba the Joint Statement issued at the 61st U.S.-Japan Business Conferenceheld in Washington, D.C. in October this year, and explained the Joint Statement and the meeting.
  2. In response, Prime Minister Ishiba expressed his respect for the work by the Japan-U.S. Business Council, which has been bringing together the voices of the business community for more than half a century to strengthen the Japan-U.S. economic relations. He also stated that the government takes the Joint Statement seriously and continues to cooperate with the Japan-U.S. Business Council to further develop the Japan-U.S. relations, while also taking into account the next U.S. administration.
