Manufacturing Technology Fellowships

In its three years of existence, this program has brought fifty U.S. manufacturing engineers to Japan to work side-by-side with their counterparts in Japanese factories, exchanging ideas on future manufacturing methods in cooperation with their host companies. Currently, the fourth round of fellows is being matched with Japanese companies.

Labor Exchanges

In April 1995, the United States Department of Labor and the Ministry of Labor of Japan co-sponsored a symposium in Tokyo entitled, "Job Seeking, Leaving/Changing Jobs, and Unemployment -- Toward Realizing the Capabilities of Youths." The symposium, which was attended by about 100 Japanese and Americans, provided a useful exchange of information about the labor policies and programs of the two Governments.
