Beit Lahia plant currently treats less than 30% of the 10,000m3/day wastewater, due to limited capacity and outdated facilities. The untreated effluent is damaging the quality of one of the finest aquifers situated nearby.

Net Sarine wastewater discharge area is one of the 13 discharge points alongside the Gaza coast. It is dumping an average of 25,000 m3 of partially treated wastewater to the sea everyday.

Wadi Gaza extends 8.5km from the armistice line in the east to the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in the west. PenA is considering implementing a project to turn the currently polluted Wadi into a natural conservation area.

Located in the western sudden of Gaza Governorate, Gaza WWTP is serving the whole population of Gaza Governorate. USAID is leading a rehabilitation project to triple the capacity of the plant, which will cater the population for the coming 5 years.
