Arrival in Samawah of Medical Equipment Provided by A Japanese Non-governmental Organization (NGO)

- Medical equipment, including infant incubators, photo therapy units for incubators, and electrocardiographs provided by grant assistance for Japanese NGO projects to the Samawah Maternity and Children's Hospital, arrived in Iraq on Wednesday, March 3, 2004. The hospital is the only children's and maternity hospital in Al-Muthanna Governorate in southern Iraq (260 beds). The equipment, which had arrived in the State of Kuwait by the Japanese government plane, it was transported by a C-130 transport plane of the Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF) from Ali Al Salem airport in Kuwait to Talil airport in Iraq. This was the first transportation operations by the ASDF aircraft for humanitarian and reconstruction-related goods.
- After arrival in Iraq, the Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) has transported the equipment to their base in Samawah, and it is planned that it will be handed over to the Samawah Maternity and Children's Hospital in the coming days.
