Messages of Condolence on the Murder of Governor Ali Radhi Al-Haydary of Baghdad Province

On January 5 (local time), Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura sent messages of condolence on the murder of Governor Ali Radhi Al-Haydary of Baghdad Province, to Prime Minister Ayad Allawi and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zibari of the Interim Government of the Republic of Iraq, respectively.

Governor Ali Radhi Al-Haydary (then-Vice Chairman of the Baghdad City Advisory Council) visited Japan from December 17 to 21 in the year of 2003, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the head of the representative group of the Baghdad City Advisory Council, and on December 17 paid courtesy calls on Prime Minister Koizumi, then-Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukuda and then-Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi.
