Message from Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nobutaka Machimura to the British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw concerning the murder of the British national in Iraq

On November 17, 2004 (local time), Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nobutaka Machimura sent a message to the British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw concerning the murder of Mrs. Margaret Hassan in Iraq. In the message Foreign Minister Machimura expressed his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Minister Machimura also resolutely condemned this most despicable and inexcusable terrorist act, and expressed Japan's determination to continue to be actively engaged in the reconstruction of Iraq and the fight against terrorism in close cooperation with the United Kingdom and the international community.
