His Excellency Mr. Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission, accompanied by a suite, paid an official working visit to Japan from April 25 to 27, 2002.During his stay in Japan, the President was received in audience by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan.
The President also held a meeting with Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan. The Prime Minister of Japan hosted a Dinner in honor of the President.
The Government of Japan sincerely welcomes the visit of the President, which will further strengthen the friendly relations existing between Japan and the European Union.
