Report on Recommendations by the Eminent Persons' Committee for PALM6 and
The Appointment of "Hula Girls" for PALM6 Goodwill Ambassador

  1. On Tuesday 15 November 2011, the Report on Recommendations by the Eminent Persons' Committee for PALM6 (which will be held in May 2012 in Nago, Okinawa) was submitted to Foreign Minister Gemba from Professor Izumi Kobayashi (Department of International Studies, Graduate School of Osaka Gakuin University, Chair of the Committee). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will prepare for the PALM6 based on the report.
  2. "Hula Girls" was appointed as PALM6 Goodwill Ambassador by Foreign Minister Gemba. This appointment was made based on the recommendations by the Eminent Persons' Committee. "Hula Girls" is a dancing team based at the Spa Resort Hawaiians in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, which was stricken by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
  3. Until 31 May 2012, the "Hula Girls" will actively promote the public awareness on PALM6 and PICs as Goodwill Ambassador through their performances inspired by the South Pacific traditional dance, participating in various events.

Reference
The Eminent Persons' Committee for PALM6 From May to November in 2011, the Committee discussed what Japan should achieve in PALM6 with participants from both public and private sectors. The meetings were held five times (May, July, August, October, and November).
