1. About the Logo

In the Pacific Island Countries (PICs), Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting is well recognized as "PALM." The blue color of "PALM6" is associated with the blue Pacific Ocean and a rainbow represents a bridge which connects PICs and Japan. A figure standing by the palm tree is called "Iisa-kun," a mascot figure of Okinawa, where PALM6 will be held. The logo represents the concept of PALM6 which is aimed to strengthen the relationship between Okinawa and PICs.

"Iisa-kun" is designed from "Shisa," a lion-shaped ornament which is originally from Okinawan mythology. "Iisa-kun" has the sun on its chest which is associated with warm climate of Okinawa and "Goya" (bitter melon), a popular Okinawa vegetable, is arranged for its tail.

2. Use of the Logo

This logo is used as an official symbol for various events related to PALM6.
