Overview

Japan and the Republic of Palau have nurtured a cooperative and friendly relationship over the years. Japan is currently the second largest donor to Palau after the United States, and there have been frequent visits by respective political leaders between the two countries. Ties at local and grass-root levels have also grown: the Republic of Palau has now sister city arrangements with Hyogo and Mie prefecture of Japan. The country, endowed with rich natural beauty, attracts visitors from all over the world, including numerous Japanese tourists.
