(i) Through contribution from JWIDF, UNDP is supporting a multi-country action-research programme titled “Compensation for contributions”* which aims to empower caregivers to influence local, national and global policies and agendas and promote recognition and effective support to the care sector in efforts to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic and its socio-economic and psychological impacts. (ii) Grassroots women caregivers have conducted interviews to enumerate the monetary value of their labour, time and resource contributions to mitigating the effects of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in their communities. These calculations will be used to engage policy makers in bringing about policy reforms. (iii) UNDP is fielding requests from NGOs interested in piloting the research of this project in their own countries.
