[1]Provide assistance to expand agricultural research, extension and advisory services including for adaptation to climate change, development of new crop varieties and improvement of soil fertility and other farming technologies, and increase the number of agriculture professionals through support for agriculture-related education and training in a gender sensitive manner.

(a) IFC agribusiness financing to Africa has been up to $127.77million by adding $23.25 million ($8 million for Rwanda and $ 15.25 million for Ghana) in 2009 and $104.5 million in 2008 and (b) the Zambia model has been scaled up to other countries in Africa through an integrated investment/advisory Africa Agricultural Finance Program which is under development.

IFC agribusiness financing to Africa was $104.52 million as follows; Africa Region ($ 15 million). Ghana ($ 20 million), Liberia ($ 10 million), Malawi ($ 5 million), Mali ($ 11.67 million), Mozambique ($ 14 million – 2 projects), Uganda ($ 14 million), World Region – Africa allocation ($ 14.85 million).
