His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, accompanied by a suite, paid an official working visit to Japan from 21 to 23 May 2001.
During his stay in Japan, President Obasanjo made a state call on His Majesty The Emperor of Japan.
His Majesty The Emperor hosted a Court Luncheon in honor of the President.
President Obasanjo also met Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan.
Prime Minister Koizumi hosted a dinner in honor of the President.
The Government of Japan sincerely welcomes the visit of President Obasanjo, which will further strengthen the friendly relations existing between Japan and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
