1. Outline

Since the issue of Africa was one of the main agenda items at the G8 Kananaskis Summit this year, Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi invited members of the African Diplomatic Corps (29 persons) to the Prime Minister's Official Residence and announced a policy entitled "Solidarity between Japan and Africa - Concrete Actions," which summarizes the modalities for Japan's cooperation with Africa on the evening of 20 June. The members of the African Diplomatic Corps expressed their gratitude for Japan's cooperation with Africa to date, and also for this assistance measure. Afterwards Prime Minister Koizumi and the African Diplomatic Corps held talks in a warm and congenial atmosphere.
