The 2nd Japan - China - R.O.K Trilateral Policy Consultation on Foreign Policy towards Africa

  1. The 2nd Trilateral Policy Consultation on Foreign Policy towards Africa will be held in Beijing on December 21 (Mon) between Japan, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Korea (ROK).

  2. The representatives of each country to attend the consultation are; Mr. Ambassador Yoshitaka Akimoto, Director-General for Sub-Saharan African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan; Mr. Zhang Ming, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; and Mr. Kim Jin-soo, Director-General of the African and Middle Eastern Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea.

  3. At this consultation, participants will exchange views on respective participating countries’ foreign policy towards Africa, frameworks for cooperation with the African countries, and regional issues including Sudan and Somalia.

(Reference) The 1st Trilateral Policy Consultation on Foreign Policy towards Africa was held in Tokyo on December 12, 2008 (Fri). This is the second time that leading government officials in charge of African policy of the three countries meet in one place to hold a policy consultation.
