4. Purpose

To exchange information/views and explore possible measures to facilitate and promote foreign investment to Africa, by convening one day meeting of participants from Africa, Asia including Japan and international organizations who have first-hand knowledge and experiences on the African investment issue. The outcome of the meeting will be used in the forthcoming Evian G8 Summit Meeting and TICADIII.

Participants will exchange views on the following points and discuss concrete measures to promote investment in Africa to formulate a proposal/recommendations.

(1) Experiences in Africa in investment area: to be presented by participants from Africa and international organizations
(2) Experiences of Japanese companies in investment in Africa: to be presented by Japanese companies
(3) Experiences of other Asian countries in investment in Africa: to be presented by Hippalos Center
