Ceasefire Agreement on the Situation in Israel and Lebanon

- Japan welcomes the ceasefire agreement between the governments of Israel and Lebanon on April 17 (local time on April 16) mediated by the United States, which provides for a ten-day ceasefire.
- Japan has called on all parties concerned for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urged to fully implement the relevant resolutions, including UN Security Council Resolution 1701, to abide by international law, including international humanitarian law, as well as to exercise maximum restraint and seek for a diplomatic settlement. Japan has made every effort to prevent a further deterioration of the situation.
- Japan will closely monitor the impact of this agreement on the regional situation, including the negotiations between the United States and Iran, and strongly expects that all parties fully implement this agreement toward realizing peace and stability in the region.
