Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII by H.E. Ms. Schwalger, Ambassador of New Zealand to Japan

On October 19, commencing at 3:45 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H. E. Ms. Carolyn Jane Weatherall Schwalger, Ambassador of New Zealand to Japan.
- At the outset, State Minister HORII expressed his congratulations to Ambassador Schwalger on her appointment and expressed his intention to cooperate closely towards the realization of the updated “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”. In response, Ambassador Schwalger stated that she would like to further strengthen the “Strategic Cooperative Partnership” on the occasion of next year`s 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and New Zealand.
- Both sides exchanged views on security and the situation in the Pacific Islands region, and confirmed the importance of continuing cooperation between the two countries in a wide range of areas.
