The 2nd Meeting of the Japan-Ecuador Economic and Trade Committee

On September 30, local time, the 2nd meeting of the Japan-Ecuador Economic and Trade Committee was held in Quito, the capital of the Republic of Ecuador.
- The Committee meeting was co-chaired by Mr. HORIUCHI Toshihiko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ecuador, and Ms. Maria Fernanda Cruz, Undersecretary for Negotiations, Office of Vice Minister of Commerce and Investment, Ministry of Economic and Productive Development of Ecuador. Officials from relevant ministries and agencies of both countries participated in the meeting.
- In the meeting, active discussions were held on ways to deepen the Japan-Ecuador economic relationship across a wide range of fields.
- Both sides also concurred in reporting outcomes of the discussion under the Economic and Trade Committee, including the current meeting, to both Foreign Ministers by the end of the year, and in exploring the possibility of launching a joint study on an Economic Partnership Agreement based on the report, as reaffirmed during the visit to Ecuador by Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan in August.
- Both sides concurred in coordinating the third meeting with December in mind.
