Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs OZORA’s attendance at the 9th Japan Canada Chambers Council (JCCC) Joint Meeting

On September 30, Mr. OZORA Koki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the 9th Japan-Canada Chambers Council (JCCC) Joint Meeting held at the Embassy of Canada to Japan, and delivered remarks representing the Government of Japan.
- In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister OZORA referred to the Japan-Canada Joint Statement issued during the visit of the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to Japan in March this year, which stated, “The leaders encourage the Japan-Canada Chambers Council to discuss opportunities aimed at further strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.” He expressed the Government of Japan's commitment to strongly support the activities of the JCCC.
- Furthermore, he noted that under the "Japan-Canada Comprehensive Strategic Roadmap," both countries have agreed to promote concrete initiatives in areas such as economic security including advanced technologies and critical mineral supply chains; energy security; and trade and investment. He expressed his hope that discussions at the meeting would open up new possibilities for cooperation between the two countries.
- In addition, Parliamentary Vice-Minister OZORA called out to the audience for further invigorating the bilateral relationship together, toward the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Canada in 2028 and beyond. Other speakers also made positive remarks on that.
