Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII’s Attendance at the “SUZUKI Cup –India Japan 75th Anniversary Cricket Match–”

On September 22, Mr. FUJII Kazuhiro, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the “SUZUKI Cup –India Japan 75th Anniversary Cricket Match–”, which was held at the Sano City International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture, on behalf of Foreign Minister Motegi, who serves as the President of the Parliamentary League for Cricket. After watching the cricket match between the Japan men’s national team and the India men’s national team, he delivered a speech on behalf of the Government of Japan at the award ceremony.
- In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister FUJII noted the importance of further expand people-to-people exchanges ahead of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2027, in order to broaden the base of relations between India and Japan. He further expressed his hope that this match would serve as a catalyst to further promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges between Japan and India through sport, including cricket.
- The match was attended by numerous stakeholders, including the Japan Cricket Association, the supporting organizations, including Suzuki Motor Corporation, the "Cricket Town Sano" Supporters Club, Sano City and the Embassy of India in Tokyo. A large crowd gathered at the venue to watch the match between the Japan men’s national team and the India men’s national team, whilst also enjoying the exchanges between Japan and India through cricket.
