Emergency Grant and Subsequent Dispatch of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Expert Team to Support DNA Testing Activities in Response to the Flash Flood Disaster in Nepal

- On September 15, the Government of Japan decided to provide an Emergency Grant of JPY 298 million (about USD 2 million) to the Government of Nepal for the provision of DNA testing equipment as part of its assistance in response to the flash flood disaster in Nepal, in response to the still growing needs for identification in Nepal,.
- In addition, the Government of Japan also decided to dispatch a team of experts of the Japan Disaster Relief Expert Team (JDR) to support DNA testing activities today
- The Government of Japan stands ready for providing assistance as much as possible, including this provision of the Emergency Grant and this subsequent dispatch of the expert team, in light of humanitarian aspect and the friendly relations with Nepal.
