Emergency Assistance to Nepal in Response to the Flash Flood

Today, August 28, upon the request of the Government of Nepal, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods (tents, blankets, etc.) to Nepal in response to the damage caused by the flash flood.       

In light of the humanitarian perspective and the close relations between Japan and Nepal, Japan has decided to provide emergency assistance to Nepal, utilizing the relief goods stored abroad, to support the people affected by the flash flood. The Government of Japan will be ready to consider necessary support according to the needs in Nepal.

The flash flood struck Nepal on August 26, causing numerous casualties, fatalities, and extensive physical damage. According to the Government of Nepal, as of August 28, 469 people died and 937 people are missing.
