From August 2 to August 3, Mr. IWAMOTO Keiichi, Director-General of the Middle East and Africa Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, visited Damascus, Syria, and had a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Asaad AL-SHAIBANI, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, and exchanged views. He also held the first Japan-Syria Political Consultation with relevant officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates. Both sides discussed various issues related to strengthening bilateral relations as well as recent regional situations. They agreed to promote mutual visits and strengthen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including politics and economy.
